Original Dyneema winch rope from DSM. Stronger and much lighter than steel cables of the same thickness.

Breaking strengths per diameter: 6 mm: MBL 3.7 Ton - 36.3 kN. 8 mm: MBL 6.0 Ton - 58.9 kN. 10 mm: MBL 10.0 Ton - 102 kN. 12 mm: MBL 14.0 Ton - 137 kN.
Please note: if a hook is spliced, the breaking strength decreases by 10%.

Dyneema cables also have some disadvantages. Melting temperature of Dyneema is around 165 degrees, softening starts between 125 and 130 degrees. If a Dyneema cable rubs against something, the frictional heat will quickly cause the cable to wear out and break. The cable must also not make bends shorter than 10x its own diameter to prevent internal breakage.

Reading these specifications, it turns out that the widely sold sliding window is completely wrong. A working roller window gives less friction and the radius of a roller is larger than that of a sliding window.

1st use. The Dyneema cables are braided from 12 different wires, which are not all exactly the same length during braiding. The wires must “settle”. You do this by attaching the cable to the tree, applying the car's handbrake for the first time and rolling the cable back up under light tension. Repeat this 3rd time, each time tightening the handbrake further, so that ultimately all wires are positioned equally well and can absorb the forces together. If you immediately put a full load on a new cable, there is a chance that the wires that have not yet been set will break, causing the total breaking strength of the cable to quickly decrease.
